The Frog Adventures — Chapter One

It is a small pond far away from the town. There is an army of frogs from nowhere setting a village around it. I call the village, "Gob-nai-gala" in Thai. In English, Gob= frog, nai=in, gala=coconut shell. The frogs in all sides never crossed to another side. Each frog own one coconut shell. Among them, there is a young male frog named "Choke" . He lays in his DIY hammock under his coconut shell everyday and sing the songs happily. He is different from most frog because he created his own way to enjoy himself which lift the coconut shell half way from the ground while the others stay inside, under the shells. The other shells only ajar enough to get-in and go-out.

Every frog stays in its space, its own GALA and only leave from the shell when searching for food. They will jump into the pond and head back directly to their own shells"homes". None goes out of the directly or stop at other shells. Also Choke, he does the same as everyone else.

One day after he fetched for food and fill his stomach enough for the day then he comes back to his hammock. He is lying on it and thinking, " I want to know, what do other frogs store inside their shells? What do their shell look like? Do they comfortable like mine?" Immediately, he is jumping off the hammock and walking to other frogs's shells in the same side. He knocks on each shells to call the owner and politely requests to get inside. He spent time until visited all in the same side of his space. He found out, none of the other shells look like his. The only darkness is all the other frogs have in their shells and ugly mold on top of the shells both inside and outside. None can compare to his shell. His space and the open shell with a DIY hammock are fantastic. The air flows through, bright and free of mold. However, he is still curious to know about the inside shells of the frogs in the other sides of the pond. If they will be different. Eventually, he prepares and collapses his hammock, flip his coconut shell up. He ties the hammock inside the shells and drags the whole into the pond.

Without waiting another moment, he jumped off his hammock and walked to the nearby shells on his side of the pond. He knocked politely on each one, asking to come inside. He visited every frog on his side and discovered that none of their shells looked like his. All were dark, cramped, and moldy. None could compare to his bright, open space with a handmade hammock.

Still, Choke remained curious. What about the frogs on the other sides of the pond? Would their shells be different?

Eventually, he made up his mind. He packed up his hammock, flipped his coconut shell upright, tied the hammock inside, and began dragging the whole thing toward the pond.

A man in a movie vs a man in real life

Let jump on my boat and go back to Thailand a couple years before2008. The first time my husband visited me there and we shared the bed, my king size bed in a studio apartment Thai style. It was a one whole room and a small bathroom. I am trying to show you the real image. He stayed with me about two weeks and I did not know that he was not sleeping at all. I knew later after I moved to the USA. I asked him. He was uncomfortable to have me beside him in bed. HaHa
Both of us had never married or in a long relationship before we met each other. We never stayed under the same roof with anyone. We were together as a real life partner for both situations. 
Let come back to the USA but not today in 2026. It was in 2008 and the incident happened slowly. It was funny and a bit upsetting me that time. He lives in a small house, small bedroom and a king size bed, only one  big blanket. Its size was big enough for both of us but during the night, he took the whole pillow and left me shivering. Of course, he did not have only one blanket but I did not solve the problem right away. I fixed it later. I added one more blanket in bed so we had our own. It seems like no more issues but several times he grabbed my blanket during the night because he could not find his. It was on the floor. I always got up and grabbed it and put on him. You may thought that why this matter? His blanket, my blanket. For him was fine. Any blanket, he did care but I was used to with the blanket I set for my side.  This incident still happens once in a while and I am the one who grabbed his blanket from the floor back on him.

According to the movie, I have not mentioned earlier which related to us. I thought about dreaming women who watches Thai movie and the man always taking care of the woman. He took a blanket covering the woman at night. He sacrificed his comfort like gave his jacket to the woman on a chilling day or night. I watched some of American movies  too. Yeah, it was the same scenario. In real life, my husband is a nice, polite, gentleman who never done anything like the man in the movie to me but I do to him.  It is my pleasure and I never thought that was a red flag at all. I obviously seeing worse men in real life, luckily they do not have relationship with me or nothing to do along my path.

I saw many couple YouTube videos. Most of them are funny base on their real even and those are the fact of human.

A good relationship and a healthy marriage to me does not mean only one does the most action but we learn, understand and accept the partner. It is adapting and adjusting to get along and being happy couple. I always measure the good part and the bad part when he does something out of my expectations. We are still together happily because the good part of him always heavier than the bad part. In fact, it is not the bad part at all , only it is not what I expected.

In my opinion, a healthy relationship starts from the first communication and base on the individual desire. What matters qualification the partner must have or would have, what is the red flag, what is compromising. Not in hurry and rushing but taking time and working together to make both side get along as one.

This morning I  was removing the sheet set in the bedroom for replacing a clean set. I ran downstairs and handed a clean pairs of pillowcases to him. I asked him to change the pair on the couch and I returned to do the bed. I went downstairs with a laundry basket full of dirty clothes. The pillow cases I gave him was on the coffee table. I had no problem and I thought about changing them after turning on the washer. Eventually, I came back to the living room and saw my husband stood there smiling. The cleaning pillowcases were placing on the pillows but he did not remove the previous one. I was laughing and starting to remove both new and the old pairs that need washing.

RIP A poor little squarrel

Once in the Summer, my husband walked to me and showed me his pain finger.

Beside, it bit me what if I got rabies and doctor want to know what bit me? OK, we kept it in the cat crate a night and will released tomorrow morning.  On Sunday morning was my sad day. My husband told me that the poor squarral was gone. I was crying inside. "We should not put him in the crate", I said. My husband cried, " I should not catch him at first."  Hence, I told him we must burry it and pray for it. We will do this afternoon, now put it somewhere save from the big bird like a Hawk. ( I have a story to tell about a big bird).  Later in the afternoon, I grabbed my husband to the backyard and handed him a shovel to dig the hole under the big tree. "Where is the body?" He pointed me to the shade and said, "under there". I searched but I did not see. My husband walked to me and moved the piece of timber, and there was the body. I told him to gentle carry it and put it into the hole. Pray for it to not come back for a revenge. My husband said, " I did not kill it".  Eventually, we did what to save it body not to be a big bird meal. It was sad, thought. 

I watched many Youtube videos, there were people did CPR to tiny animals but we did not have skill. The best solution for us, let it be as nature. The lesson, never touch the animal if we do not know how to help.

I did not remember I do not remember who he called, 911 maybe, or the ER somewhere. The answer he got made him relief made him feel relieved and also, I looked at many information a lot of information online, he was ok when got a bit from a squarral. and he was okay after being bitten by a squirrel.

He was doing something at on the deck on Saturday morning and saw this poor tiny squarralsquirrel injured, then he intended to help it. He grabbed (not supposed to do) (which he was not supposed to do) it and that when that was when it bit him. He put the tiny animal in the cat crate and fed it water and cat food. I told him, we should let it go. "We should let it go," I said. He said, but it was injured. It could not walk. Beside, it bit me what if I got rabies and doctor want to know what bit me? "But it is injured. It cannot walk. Besides, it bit me—what if I get rabies and the doctor wants to know what bit me?" OK, we kept it in the cat crate a night and will released tomorrow morning. Okay, we kept it in the cat crate overnight and would release it the next morning.

On Sunday morning was my sad day. it became my sad day. My husband told me that the poor squarralsquirrel was gone. I was crying inside. "We should not put him in the crate", I said. "We should not have put him in the crate," I said. My husband cried, " I should not catch him at first." said, "I should not have caught him in the first place." Hence, I told him we must burry it and pray for it. So I told him we must bury it and pray for it. We will do this afternoon, now put it somewhere save from the big bird like a Hawk. "We will do it this afternoon. For now, put it somewhere safe from big birds like hawks." ( I have a story to tell about a big bird). (I have a story to tell about a big bird.)

Later in the afternoon, I grabbed took my husband to the backyard and handed him a shovel to dig the hole under the big tree. "Where is the body?" He pointed me to the shade and said, "under there". "Where is the body?" I asked. He pointed to the shade and said, "Under there." I searched but I did not see. I searched but I did not see it. My husband walked to over to me and moved the piece of timber, and there was the body. I told him to gentle gently carry it and put it into the hole. Pray for it to not come back for a revenge. I watched many Youtube videos, there were people did CPR to tiny animals but we did not have skill. and I saw so many people did CPR on tiny animals, but we did not have that skill. The best solution for us, let it be as nature. The best solution for us was to let nature be. The lesson, never touch the animal if we do not know how to help. Why we talked in different stories all the time?

In 2005, my husband went to see me in person for the first time. One moment I was never forgetting, we were in the car. I was a driver and he was a passenger. He was sitting quietly while I was talking along.Eventually, he asked me about thing we drove past and I explained. Suddenly, he said, " Why we talk in different stories all the time?" At that moment, I had no idea. I tried my best to explain and answered his questions. I had never gotten the answer about what did he mean about different stories until I moved to the USA and my English was getting better.  I studied English in Thailand and what I learned was memorizing the meaning of words but I did not know the usage and situation. I remember like this word mean this in Thai then when we want to say in English just grab that word means in Thai.

In English, the situation matters and must be using the right word for that. For example, the  three English words ; Chance, Opportunity and Occasionally mean the same in Thai short word pronounce O - Gaas but in English the three words mean different things, different situations. I did not know that. I thought O-Gaas in Thai can use three words in English replacing each other but I was wrong.

Can you imagine how language barrier in relationship? and how patient a couple must have and try to understand each other? Luckily, I do not need to learn the third language for living as I chose my man who speaks English. Other than that, the third, forth, fifth or more languages are still my choices to learn if I have enough patience.

Whirlpool washer the lack of softener dispenser

We got new laundry machines. The deliver guys just left and I used them right away to see how do they work.

I discovered the lack of detergent and softener dispenser on the new washer and searched for solutions. The detergent is not the issue at all because we switched from liquid in the bottle to Pod many years. I looked for how to add softener for this model and I found two ways. 

First, manually add the softener at the rinse cycle. I was standing observation my washer to see when was the rinse cycle started. I watched it until the sign DONE. That meant, I missed the rinse cycle. Never mind for the first load, I added the second load and tested if I can stop the cycle and unlock the door.YES, however, I must keep looking for timing when the washed water drains and starts to fill clean water for rinsing. This is NO for me. I found the other solution and I am going to order the container. It is Downey ball. I do not know if it works good until I have it and use it. I will record the video , "How to add softener in the Whirlpool washer top load, the one does not have a dispenser. I looked and found out in the comments that there are many people asked for it. I thought, all the washer has the THREE dispensers for detergent,  bleach and softener. That was the reason, I did not look for it when we walked in the store, looked, chose, and ordered them.

This feels like , we down grade our machines from fully digital control panel to a half digital panel and the turning knob LOL The broken dryer and an old washer was LG front doors. AI told me, it was not down grade but TRANSITION.

By the way, this time I could manually fill the softener but not sure if that was the right cycle, will see when my laundry is done. I am surely ordering the downy ball for my convenience. I cannot keep watching the washer all the time.  At least, I can figured how to unlock the door myself during the cycles.

I unlocked the door after the water filler started which no water in the tank yet and poured the softener in it. I only hope that does not cause stain on the clothes. The information I got from searching said, " Never pour softener directly on clothes because it can be stained"

Yeah!, no stain and the clothes smell good as usual.

When I moved here, I stored food and one day he told me that we needed a new refrigerator. I replied, " why? it is good still. I agreed to get a new one and he gave me another solution like what they had at his parents's house. He said, we could get a freezer and put in the garage. I refused because our garage was small and I want to save his money. The time past (not sure if this past or passed) I agreed with him that it was good to have a freezer too but if we have a place to set it not in the small garage. I wanted to park my car in the garage, if we had the freezer then no way my car could fit in there. OK, we got the modern Samsung two doors open two sides,nice compaments (shelves) with automatic ice maker and water tap at the outside door. Moreover, a separated huge drawer bottom freezer. We used them about 9 years and that was my DIASTER moment while we were waiting for the new one delivered. 

We looked at the modern stylish ones and none was stocked in the store we went at all. If we wanted to wait that took one , two months which I did not have the refrigerator for two weeks. I must bought ice packs ever day, replacing the foam boxes to keep all meat and stuff. Tired! 

I forgot to mention that we were lucky the simple one ( We agreed, whatever avalable and fit our space, that was the one) .We got it in a week but it did not work. RETURNED. The team came and replaced a new one then I told them to take it back because we retruned not replaced. Aterthat, we went to the other location  same store brand/name and ordered it.Whaever available and could delivery sooner. We get in within a week. It was a simple Frigidair, top freezer open door and the big door at the shelves section. No fancy as we could not wait for them anymore. I told my husband, in the next 10 years when we get the new one, I perfer the separated bottom drawer freezer.
