compound / complex sentences

Dependent : whenever it rained => can not stand alone<=

Independent: Joe went to the movies.

Simple : Joe went to the movies.

Compound:  2 sentences join together with independent clause.

1. Joe went to the movies.
2. Sally came along.

Joe went to the movies and Sally came a along.

•  Joe => S    , went => V
• Sally=> S    , came => V

Complex :  independent + dependent  

• Joe went to the movies whenever it rained.

Compound-Complex : Compound + Complex

• Joe went to the movie and Sally came along whenever it rained.

1 ประโยคสมบูรณ์ เข้าใจ จบ เรียก independent เช่น Joe went to the movie.

2  ประโยคที่ต้องพึ่งประโยคอื่นถึงจะเข้าใจสมบูรณ์ เรียก dependent เช่น  when ever it rained

3 ประโยคสมบูรณ์ สอง ประโยครวมกัน โดยมีคำเชื่อม  เรียก compound เช่น Joe went to the movie and sally came along. สังเกตว่าจะมีประธานสอง กริยาสอง เกิดจากประโยคสมบูรณ์สองประโยคมารวมกันโดยมี and  เชื่อม

4 เมื่อ 1 +  2 เป็น Complex เช่น Joe went to the movie whenever it rained.

5 เมื่อ compound + complex  คือทั้งหมดรวมกัน เช่น Joe went to the movie and Sally came along whenever it rained.
