After my patched dryer striked me and stopped working then I decided to get a new one. My husband is happy as he wanted to get rid of it since its basket break. Anyway, he wanted to get a new washer matching too. We did not have the made/brand in mind because this time my requested was a top load washer then the right size that fit our small space would work. At Lowes nearby our place, we walked and looked all laundry machines they displayed. I pointed the ones I liked and he did the measuremnts if they fitted our block at home. I did not want the agitator and it was the new word I knew today. I wanted to get a bigger basket. Well, the one that fited our luandry coner was Whirlpool. I had no idea about this brand then quick checked on the review. There were good reviews, checked. What the agitator does? I looked at the information and Yeah, why not? It helps the clothes not tight to each other. I told my husband, ok, I chose them. Three days later the delivery guys came and set up them. I started to use them right away but....wait...where was the detergent dispenser? where was the softener dispenser? OMG! this made me a headache. I thought, ALL washers have them. I looked online for the solutions and found two, manully add at the rinse cycle or using a Downy Ball. What was the Downy Ball? I never known this item existed.
I observed my machine but I did not stay with it the whole time. I walked up and down stiars working on build the website and checking the washer. I missed the first time to add softener manually. I thought the machine might stop and unlocked the door at the rinse cycle but NO. Second loaded, I estimated the time when the dirty wather drained from wash cycle and the clean water filling, I got it right. I mannully stop the machine, not turn it of just press onthe pause button to unlock the door and pour the softener into the basket. I did not wait for water fill over the clothes because I could not think at that moment. It should to prevent stain. Luckily, no stain on my clothes. The next wash when I got a Downy Ball, I used it and this was the best solution for me. I fill softener inside the ball and throw it in the washer along detergen and clothes then turn the machine on and leave it alone. I did not forget to set softener cycle. The lesson I learned from this was, make sure if the washer has dispenserss for all. I saw online, some model top load has some does not have. Happy ending. I like my new laundry machines now and ignore the old style designing. They are not stylish as my taste. haha

The Day My Patched Dryer Finally Gave Up
After my patched dryer struck me and stopped working, I finally accepted its message: “Let me go.” My husband was happy because he had wanted to get rid of it ever since the basket broke. And of course, if we were getting a new dryer, he wanted a matching washer too.
We didn’t have a brand in mind. My only request this time was simple: a top‑load washer that fit our small laundry space. So we went to Lowe’s near our place and walked around looking at all the machines they displayed. I pointed at the ones I liked, and he measured to see if they would fit our little laundry corner at home.
That was also the day I learned a new English word: agitator. I didn’t want one. I wanted a bigger basket. But the only set that fit our laundry corner was Whirlpool. I had no idea about this brand, so I quickly checked the reviews — good reviews, checked. Then I read what the agitator actually does. Oh… it helps keep clothes from getting tight and tangled. Why not? I told my husband, “Okay, I choose these.”
Three days later, the delivery guys came and set everything up. I started using them right away but… wait.
Where was the detergent dispenser? Where was the softener dispenser?
My head hurt. I thought all washers had them. I searched online and found two solutions:
Add softener manually during the rinse cycle
Use something called a Downy Ball — which I never knew existed.
I tried the manual method first. But I didn’t stay with the machine the whole time because I was going up and down the stairs working on my website. I missed the rinse cycle completely. I thought the machine would stop and unlock the lid automatically. Nope.
Second load, I estimated the timing. When the dirty water drained and the clean water started filling, I paused the machine, unlocked the lid, and poured the softener in. I didn’t wait for the water to cover the clothes — my brain wasn’t working at that moment — but luckily, no stains.
Then the Downy Ball arrived. And honestly? Best solution for me. I fill it with softener, throw it in with the detergent and clothes, turn the machine on, and leave it alone. I just need to remember to set the softener cycle.
Lesson learned: Not all top‑load washers have dispensers. Some do, some don’t. Check before buying.
Happy ending: I like my new laundry machines now. I just ignore the old‑style design. They are not stylish as my taste. Haha.
